Re: And during Holy Week too

Yeah, the real difference between the Zone and the fad "low-carb" diets like Atkins and South Beach is that it doesn't unnaturally increase your protein levels or decrease your carbohydrate levels to unsafe and extreme conditions at any point -- it's just about adjusting the balance so it's 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% healthy fats, and watching what particular carbohydrates you eat.

I haven't eaten rice in the past two months, but I have eaten tons of pasta -- nearly every casserole recipe I have from FormulaZone seems to use noodles of some sort. Though today I did make a 40-30-30 dish with potatoes, and I found there were more potatoes there than I even wanted to eat...

In the past month I have also eaten numerous chocolate chip cookies, Oreos, a chocolate bar... this is what I like about the Zone, you can fit anything into it, and if worst comes to worst and you absolutely blow one meal, then you just get back on track with the next one. It's a very forgiving way of eating, I find. And I'm eating lots of veggies and fruit, which is all to the good.
