Just a few quick thoughts before I take myself (and the proof copy of Spell Hunter I have been cuddling all day) off to bed:

[livejournal.com profile] erinbow is surveying fellow writers about their writing spaces, and how they get into the mood to write. Toddle along and help her out, won't you?

And since I've been enjoying the London Underground blog lately, here's a fun post about animals you can find in the London Tube map. The fishy underpants are delightful, but I particularly like the platypus myself.

And finally -- L'Shana Tova to my Jewish friends!
After I finished reading a chapter of a middle-grade fantasy novel* to my 8-year-old son tonight, he turned to me and said the following, and I quote:

"Satan looks like Barney in my head."

Well okay then.

*Which, let me assure you, had nothing to do with Satan.
I know it is ridiculous to imagine that Kraft Spirals taste better than regular Kraft Dinner, but part of me still believes that they do.

[livejournal.com profile] kateorman FOR THE WIN on the subject of the Tenth Doctor's wardrobe and its shattering implications for new Who fans.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] peacockharpy explains that contrary to popular belief, parenthood does not decrease your intelligence, but it certainly messes up your ability to concentrate, which pretty well sums up my life right now. I have a backlog of unanswered e-mails, screencaps begging to be made into icons, essays on a variety of topics I consider important, and, oh yeah, housework. Plus I want to post an an update on what's happening with my novel (the short form being: don't hold your breath) and some thinking-out-loud about what I ought to do next (the present answer being: I don't know, because I CANNOT CONCENTRATE, except when I am lying in bed, which means that I CANNOT SLEEP so I have resolved not to do that if I can help it because I'm sleep-deprived enough as it is). The only reason I can write even this much at the moment is that I am typing with one hand while holding the baby with the other.

If I manage to organize things really well this morning and the baby cooperates, I may be able to have a shower. And maybe even give the bathrooms a quick wipe-down. But right now the older two are agitating for their breakfast, so away I go.
