HOW DID I MISS THAT LAURIE R. KING'S LATEST MARY RUSSELL BOOK DEBUTED THE SAME DAY AS MINE?!

THAT IS SO AWESOME.

(The Language of Bees, people. Holmes! Russell! Go buy it!)

And now I am furious for myself for not getting a copy when I was in the bookshop just a few hours ago. Must amend that very soon.

And she gave you a shout-out, too!

I went to try to buy Spell Hunter today-- I really wanted the experience of walking into a bookstore, finding it on a shelf, and buying it-- but none of the local stores had it, and none could tell me when they were getting it in, either. I tried B&N and Borders and even a couple of the independent bookstores, and they all said "hmm. Looks like it's supposed to be out, but we don't have it in stock yet. We can order it for you!"

So I went home and ordered it on Amazon. :P I'll buy another copy when it finally makes it to the stores (I want to keep one pristine for when it's totally a collector's item-- first edition Spell Hunter by world-famous author R.J. Anderson!) so I can still have that wonderful experience of smiling at the store clerk and saying "she's my friend!" when I buy it. :)

(In the meantime, I also bought The Language of Bees. :D)

I see you are going to be a guest at Polaris this summer. If you've never been, it is an AWESOME con. My best friend Patti is probably the person who booked you. They are very, very good to their guests, and the attendees tend to be very welcoming and respectful. You should have a great time!

Yes, I am going! This is my first Real Con and I'm looking forward to it! I'll only be there for the Saturday, but I'm doing at least four panels during that time.

Thanks for the endorsement! It's nice to know it's such a good con.

I just, not five minutes ago, finished reading Spell Hunter. Brilliant, wonderful, etc., etc. I'm off work the next two days, and I have a feeling I'll be rereading at least one more time.

They are both coming to my house in the same amazon shipment. I thought it was funny that they both came out on the same day. (but I want to read yours first)
unfortunately I have to wait until my husband flies to the US in May until I get them but I will have to be patient as i read your friends' glowing reviews!

That's so cool.

I loved loved loved Knife - read it in 2 and a half hours. I've been gushing over it all day at school and our librarian is going to talk to her book sellers about it tomorrow - we're trying to get some buzz going.

I have seen "Knife" in the wild again today! This time it was in Borders Doncaster. Alas there was no special display for it, but it was on the shelf with the front cover facing the reader, rather than being spine out, so that lovely Brian Froud cover is doing you good.

I owe Brian Froud so much, seriously. I can't tell you how many people have told me they picked up the book for the cover alone.
